Appeal Letter from the School Staff

Dear Pangasinan.org Community:

            Greetings of peace and joy!

Dr. Maria Montessori once stated, "The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind." We, at Flores Elementary School, firmly believe that it is our mission to prepare the children entrusted to our care for meaningful and effective participation in the future of our community and beyond. Hence, we have strived to pool our physical and material resources together to create a carefully-planned and stimulating environment to aid each elementary-age child lay an excellent foundation for competence and creative learning. In spite of the limitations in the resources available, we have remained steadfast in our goal to prepare the children not only for the next level of their education but to prepare them for life as well.

It is in keeping with these goals in mind that we bring to you a plea for assistance for a project which will stimulate a child's mind to the power of the written word which in turn will enable him to know more about the world in which he lives, foster better communication and comprehension skills and lay the foundation for a lifetime of knowledge and enjoyment. The project is for the school library which is, at present,  sorely lacking in enough reading materials for the children of the school. As Maurice Saxby wrote in Winch and Hoogstad, "It is not enough to know about books and even to talk about them. Children must encounter them: a close encounter of the very first kind." It is to this end that we hope to provide the children with meaningful and vivid encounters with one of the tools necessary for learning: books.

Hence, we wish to request for assistance in procuring a set of encyclopedias, dictionaries, reference books and other books which could be used as reading supplements for all age levels from pre-school to sixth grade. We welcome new and used book donations, whichever the donors would be willing to share with us, for this project in order for our school to have a functional library which can be readily used by our students.

We anticipate your favorable response to and support for this project and we do hope that once again, the magnanimity of the organization's donors and supporters will not fail us. With the completion of this project, we hope to have taken a vital step towards nurturing the seeds of potential for academic growth in each child.

Thank you very much and God bless you!
                                                                                                   Sincerely yours,
                                                                                                      The Faculty
