All contributors of this project tasked the Town Parish for we knew they are neutral and more cognizant of the poor residents in the community regardless of their religious beliefs. This has nothing to do or involvment of any govermental functionary or political entity. We do not favor or side with anyone when it comes to politics. We stand neutral in this regard and therefore whoever attempts to capitalize this food giving is not welcome and we earnestly discourage such attempt We contributors do not ask anything in return for what we give, but just a satisfaction that we care of our poor because of the circumstances they were in. I hope anyone reading this message will not misconstrue or misunderstand our hopes and intention. We were once poor citizens in Santa Barbara and with those experiences we felt how it felt to be hungry and wanting. The recepients were selected from the poorest of the poor from Barrios selected by th local Priest.(different barrios each year are given the opportunity to receive these food) The association don't have anything to do who get what. The funds are just delivered in its entirety to the Priest. In the past Who ever from abroad who were contributors are urge or encourage to participate in the distribution, just for maintaining discipline and orderly management or crowd control. There are no influential or "MALAKAS" who can dictate who gets what. No political or government involvement whether local, provincial or national are invited. There is no fanfare or publicity as to when the distribution will occur and known only to recepients, the Parish and the Caritas Society of Santa Barbara. In my previous visits and assistance in controlling the crowd everyone from among the crowd were so appreciative of the ordeliness and discipline that you hear no yelling or lowd talk and the distribution last in less than couple of hours. Old folks could hardly carry their heavy load of goodies but were helped for their orderly exits. Some even were teary-eyed in expressing their gratitude. With that we are encouraged to help them. This food distribution is going on 8 years now. As an addendum to this message, we are so gratified that Luvimin Idio Quinto won the Mrs Queen of the Santa Barbara Town Fiesta, 2009. Due to the help of relatives, friends from her social circles and plain townmates who were so close to Luvi and Paul they gave their financial contribution to help her win, thus that will redown to the benefit of the whole town.
