SNPANC is currently sponsoring a basketball sports competition for high school students in San Nicolas. Championship game will be on March 1st. Winners and awarding of prizes will culminate this “palaro” around the time that coincides with the town fiesta. Along with its unselfhish members, SNPANC thanks outside donors that sponsor sports leagues and who considered the non-profit status of SNPANC a viable vehicle to bring sports and league competition even to remote place like San Nicolas. Ruiz of barangay Salpad in San Nicolas town and his nephew, Roger Quimo, last May 7. The double murder and theft case, docketed L-0IH-INV-00142 and I-OIH-INV-00143, was filed before the Tayug prosecutor’s office, said Sr. Supt. Rosueto V. Ricaforte in a press conference Thursday at the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council office here. Investigation disclosed that the two victims were on their way to the town proper aboard a motorcycle when flagged down and fired upon. Ruiz was supposed to attend the national convention of barangay chairmen in Cebu City. Investigators recovered three spent cartridges of a 12-gauge shotgun and a slug from a handgun of undetermined caliber. Ricaforte said robbery appeared to be the most probable motive as the suspects carted away the personal belongings of the victims. He added he was not discounting other angles. He said witnesses positively identified Serquina, of sitio Lagpan, barangay San Felipe East in San Nicolas, as the leader of the assailants. The gun-for-hire suspect had a standing warrant of arrest for murder. He also had string of robbery and murder cases, the provincial director bared. Ricaforte said the police are looking into Serquina’s involvement in the earlier killing of barangay officials from the town and neighboring areas. At only 22 years old, he was said to be operating also in nearby Nueva Ecija province. The execom does not impose fees for the night except the payment of the auditorium box which is 800 pesos. On Saturday, January 8, 2011, Luis Serquina and Tino Ogali, President and Secretary respectively of RAHSAAI had a lenghty audience with Mayor Jangget the purpose of which is to seek permission of the Mayor for the use of the auditorium from Feb. 25,26 & 27. Expectedly, the Mayor gave his unequivocal consent and support to the grand reunion of the Red Arrow High School. In like manner, the Mayor assured the duo that his office shall be available to extend any assistance of any kind like telephones, fax machines, computers internets and the likes. Further, the Mayor has issued a Memorandum advising all Punong Barangays to disseminate to, as widely as possible, all graduates of the Red Arrow High School in their respective Barangays. And as proof of further commitment to the success, the Mayor has pledged to commit tarpaulins announcing the Grand Reunion. These manifestations of commitment to such occasion exemplifies the advocacy of the present local leadership in seeking partnership with Private organizations such as RAHSAAI. The Mayor believes in the strength of this organization when harnessed to it maximum potentials.This office has constantly demonstrated its willingness to be partners with all sectors regardless of political persuasions. In the same vein, the Mayor has extended his sincere invitation to all Alumni and returning townmates to join,participate and enjoy the beats of the 2011 Town Fiesta dubbed as the 2nd BATBATO Festival. The three (3) day event which shall be on March 4-5-6, shall showcase the Search for MR/MS DUR-AS SAN NICOLAS on the 4th, the EXECUTIVE/BALIKBAYAN night(Coronation) on the 5th and BARANGAY night on the 6th. The all time favorite is the Municipal Parade on the 5th at 7AM that shall feature this year's MR/MRS SAN NICOLAS to be crowned on the same night and all other reigning Majesties and Royal Highnesses. And added spices would be the different sports activities, Rock Gardening competition, Drum and Lyre, Field Demo and other side shows. Confidence is high that this year's would be another marquee event that any San Nicolanian would be proud of. Oh no! That’s weekdays and I will be in NAS Fallon, Nevada. A neighbor and sister-in-law shall always have firm bonding. Manong Romeo is in a better place now with his suffering gone.
