A Class ’60 alumni reunion is being considered. This year, 2010 would be ideal to stage the reunion as it marks our 50th graduation annniversary. We are crossing our fingers that a significant number of us will sign up and make this event a reality. A copy of the Commencement Exercise Program dated Mar. 30, 1960 with the full list of graduates and faculty members among others, was (unbelievably!) discovered recently. Let us know if you are curious enough to have a copy of this ancient document for yourself. For the record, there are 174 of us who graduated that year. If my memory serves me right, Ms. Sandiko handled English classes. Glad to know that she is still well, and perhaps remember most of us. I am hoping that she is not saddened by our carelessness as reflected by our incorrect usage of the English language. Along with her, I remember Mr. Gregorio Aquino, the algebra teacher. Briefly Mr. Gorgonio handled trigonometry. Ms. Rescober was the physics teacher, Ms. Conte was the biology teacher. Ms. Mandapat was literature teacher with Mrs. Posadas as the Panitikan and Balarila, Mr. Ramos as the history teacher. After this basic foundation, some pursued higher education in different colleges. I am forever grateful for the teacher’s immense contribution to my basic foundation; without which I will be totally lost in college where my classmates were from reputable exclusive schools. Some of us continued to pursue higher education here in USA and again, the basic foundation I had at high school was a factor to my ability to cope with the stringent requirements here. I am product of both school system; of the Philippines and of USA. My children are product of private schools in USA and I can hold my candle with them and claim rightfully that my basic foundation in that little school, San Carlos College (high school) fares well with them. If it is through this forum I can express my unending gratitude – I say, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PERSEVERANCE, thank you for your lasting gift, the gift of KNOWLEDGE.
