From: MessageAustrian resort owner arrested for killing wife Posted on August 18, 2008 -( Filed Under Inside News, News)>> SAN FABIAN–An Austrian national was arrested by the police on Thursday night for allegedly shooting and killing his Filipina wife in a fit of jealousy inside the family-owned Your Love Beach Resort in barangay Nibaliw Magliba here. A case of parricide is now being readied against Gernott Roland Peter, 49, a resident of the barangay, who was tagged by his own two sons, three and five year old boys, of shooting their mother, Aileen Matug-og Peter, 33. The shooting incident happened just outside the family's cottage in the middle of another altercation between the couple which reportedly was frequent. Peter denied the crime but his own sons told investigators they saw their father shoot their mother point blank with a hand gun. The police learned that the suspect and the victim were frequently quarrelling in their bedroom as he suspected that his wife was having an affair. At about 9:30 p.m. on the day of the killing, the couple argued again inside their bedroom when Peter, who was heavily drunk, confronted his wife as to why she was always out. To avoid being beaten again by her husband, Mrs. Peter reportedly rushed out of their cottage but the suspect followed her allegedly with a handgun and shot her, hitting her on the temple. After shooting his wife, Peter allegedly went back to the beach and asked their maid for help as his wife was shot by someone who escaped. He claimed he did not know the person. But his two sons came forward and volunteered the information that they saw their father shoot their mother. The firearm used in the killing, however, is missing.— From: Kenneth Metiam Zuñiga MessageKung sino man po ang kamag-anak ni loreta metiam na asawa ni pedro zuñiga na taga catanduanes-region 5 na kung pwede po pakikontak naman po ako sa cp #09155337329 o 09218307960. From: MessageExcerpts from Sunday Punch Aug. 4, 2008 -----URDANETA CITY– Minacs, a major call center company with head office in Libis, Quezon City has confirmed its plan to establish a call center here that will initially open 1,000 jobs. Councilor Higinio Agsalud, majority floor leader of the city council, said officials of Minacs came to the city twice to express their determination to set up a call center in the city. When fully operational, the call center will have openings for up to 3,000 call center agents who will be working on three shifts daily. “The coming of Minacs will stimulate business activities in Urdaneta as several establishments will be prompted particularly restaurants, to open 24 hours a day in order to cater to the demands of call center agents on duty,” Agsalud said. Minacs is set to rent the whole second floor of the city's public market and the high-rise Shahani Building along the Maharlika Highway in barangay Nancayasan. The same firm also offered to set up and operate a separate call center in Dagupan City and in other big cities in the country. In Dagupan, Minacs plans to rent the entire idle third floor of the Malimgas Public Market or the former MC Adore Hotel which is now owned by the Dagupan City government. Minacs officials were accompanied by former Senator Leticia Ramos Shahani and her son, former Sixth District Rep. Ranjit Ramos Shahani when they called on Urdaneta Mayor Amadeo Perez Jr. Agsalud hailed the coming of Minacs as it will open jobs to thousands of graduates and unemployed professionals in Urdaneta City, which is the education center in eastern Pangasinan. The fatality was identified as Mayor Arthur Cabantac who was shot with an automatic rifle while he was playing mahjong with a group of friends in the house of one Mrs. Cecelia Bona, not far from his home. No one else was reported hurt or wounded. P/Sr Supt. Isagani Nerez, police provincial director, immediately formed a task force to go after the still unidentified killer and possibly the mastermind. The gunman used an M-16 Armalite rifle as evidenced by empty shells found at the crime scene. Named by Nerez to head Task Force Cabantac is P/Supt. Davey Drapeza with elements of members from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the PNP Crime Laboratory, the Provincial Intelligence and Investigation Branch and the Agno Police. The National Bureau of Investigation has been asked to join the task force, too. Nerez said that the gunman, undetected by Cabantac's security men, managed to enter the premises and shot the mayor pointblank from the window where he was playing mahjong with three persons. The mayor was hit on the chest and died on arrival at the Alaminos City Doctors Hospital. Nerez said the Task Force is now interrogating the mayor's security men who were with him the premises where the mayor was playing mahjong. Cabantac is a first-term mayor of Agno having just been elected in May 2007 election, dethroning a political dynasty whose members alternated in ruling the town for many decades. Nerez said he is not discounting politics as one of the motives for the slaying, adding that investigators are now in touch with Mrs. Cabantac and their daughter who may provide valuable information that could help in the solution of the slaying. "We are not also discounting the possibility that the mayor may have received death threats prior to the incident, he said. Cabantac was the second mayor killed in Pangasinan in two years. The first victim was Mayor Julian Resuello of San Carlos City who was assassinated on April 28, 2007, at that time when he was running for vice mayor in tandem with his son, Julier, who is now mayor of San Carlos. Resuello’s case remains unsolved to this day. There were also two vice mayors, four councilors as well as a number of barangay captains also similarly killed in the past few years, and all still remained unsolved. U.S. Agents Can Seize Laptops (2008-08-01) - Contributed by Reuters Report: The notebooks and other devices can be seized without reason and held indefinitely. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. federal agents have been given new powers to seize travelers' laptops and other electronic devices at the border and hold them for unspecified periods the Washington Post reported on Friday. Under recently disclosed Department of Homeland Security policies, such seizures may be carried out without suspicion of wrongdoing, the newspaper said, quoting policies issued on July 16 by two DHS agencies. Agents are empowered to share the contents of seized computers with other agencies and private entities for data decryption and other reasons, the newspaper said. DHS officials said the policies applied to anyone entering the country, including U.S. citizens, and were needed to prevent terrorism. The measures have long been in place but were only disclosed in July, under pressure from civil liberties and business travel groups acting on reports that increasing numbers of international travelers have had their laptops, cellphones and other digital devices removed and examined. The policies cover hard drives, flash drives, cell phones, iPods, pagers, beepers, and video and audio tapes -- as well as books, pamphlets and other written materials, the report said. The policies require federal agents to take measures to protect business information and attorney-client privileged material. They stipulate that any copies of the data must be destroyed when a review is completed and no probable cause exists to keep the information. Journey doesn't miss a ballad with new frontman 10:36 AM CDT on Monday, July 28, 2008 By MARIO TARRADELL / The Dallas Morning News mtarradell@dallasne ws.com The idea of a Filipino singer becoming the main voice of American pop-rock band Journey might initially sound like a joke. This is the group from San Francisco, the one that made its name cranking out soaring rockers and ballads for mainstream U.S. radio in the '70s and '80s. But there's no punch line here. Arnel Pineda took the stage Sunday night at Superpages.com Center with a fierce vengeance. The diminutive vocalist with the jet-black hair tore into Journey classics as well as new material from the gold-selling Revelation like his future depended on it. In a way, it does. Surely, this is the big break for the 40-year-old performer who was influenced by, among others, Steve Perry, the best-known and longest-running lead singer of Journey. Oh, and the band discovered him on YouTube. How's that for a modern-day kicker? The show Sunday night, which also featured rocking, passionate performances by Heart and Cheap Trick, was before a mammoth sold-out crowd. It was also a pure blast. Journey's catalog remains the epitome of melodies, hooks and rhythm. There is no denying staples such as "Only the Young," "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)," "Don't Stop Believin'," "Faithfully" and "Open Arms." What's more, the fresh tunes, particularly "Never Walk Away" and "After All These Years" sounded as though they came from the repertoire of the band's heyday. Mr. Pineda delivered them all with intensity. He was a ball of energy, working both sides of the stage, sweating up a storm and still hitting all the high notes. The guy looked genuinely ecstatic to be in the role he's in. Who could blame him? He lucked into a rock 'n' roll group with a solid history that's still selling out concerts 35 years after its inception. Soberano MessageHello,// During the late 60's or early 70's, I was terribly frightened wherever I went until this company attached their name after a month or two of advertising in the provinces. This form of advertising belonged to the manufacturer of SYLCON bed that invited everyone to spend even 8 hours of their lives on their beds. Para kang napadpad sa Balete Drive that at any moment bigla na lamang lilitaw yung tikbalang. Believe it or not, 3 of my beautiful cousins from Mindoro (Arevalos) met an accident while traveling along Balete Drive and suffered cuts and bruises that changed their lifestyle. But this time it will be a different story because I will be needing people who has the ability to convince people suffering from cervical, thoracic and/or lower back pain problems (with NO previous back surgeries) to enroll into the program. Globally, anybody that you may convince to enroll, you will be given $50.00 U.S. dollars per head after the completion of the program. Kahit nasa Manila ka pa or sa probinsiya, for as long as you know how to "talk" and convince them, you can make money easily. Please jot down the information of every sufferer you can convince in order to get the credit. THAT’S MY PROMISE TO ALL. The American mentality is focused mainly to resort to any of the following once they encounter back pain problems to pain-killers, surgery and doctors. The majority of them chose to have surgery as the solution to their problems and without a thought, elect to have surgery because their insurance pays 100% of the bills. Me, being their personal trainer, I will charge each one the amount of between $500.00- $750.00 U.S. dollars (4 easy installment plan) for the average people, whereas; for the rich and famous, that's another story. This package comes to even travel to Europe, Alaska to Hawaii, Canada, Australia and to the Middle East. Also, I have to call them from morning, noon till night for a period of ONE month from my base, Washington D.C. as a part of my/our personalized service. You must be honest by telling everyone your location, that you are a part of the team as Sales/Consultants (not a back sufferer) to convince every sufferer to resort to alternative methods before deciding to have a back surgery. Being their personal trainer, mention that I am not a licensed medical professional, not a therapist and not even a chiropractor. Because I had the "first" hand experience with the pain itself and dealt with the pain for 5 long years, my rehab days combined with my martial arts experience had given me the courage and the slightest idea to HELP people with back pain problems not by surgical procedure and no drugs but more on the natural way of healing which is exercise. To anyone interested, please Google me for more information what is exactly being offered to attain the ultimate solution to back pain problems. Thank you.
