Uncle, we both recognized naman in typical speaking that Mr. Pedro Orata of Bangar Pangasinan as the father of “Barangay High School” di ba siya nagtayo ng school sa may Urdaneta pero hindi siya ang nagpursige na maitayo ang school natin maari sa kabuuan siya ang may akda but we are talking about “San Leon Barangay High School” here and my grandfather the late Evaristo Estrada – the former barangay captain of San Leon Balungao Pangasinan took the initiative. You must understand also that establishing an institution is like planning or opening a business and it’s very complicated di ba hindi nakukuha sa isang tulugan lang. Tama maaring isa ka sa unang nagtapus sa Barangay High School but hindi naman ibig sabihin na noong 1969 nila inumpisahan ang plano di ba. mr.castro,i'm sorry to "rain in your parade" but i think you were misguided.San Leon high school was established by the Dept.Ed IN 1969,championed by Mr.Pedro Orata the "father of Barrio High School".During that time the barrio captain of San Leon was the late Evaristo Estrada(very intelegent and very nice man}. We were the first batch of students who completed the whole four years of schooling in this institution. THE YEAR WAS 1969 TO 1972. God Bless You Mr. Castro and Good Luck on your endeavor.PEACE

ear 2012, Nine (9) months to go and our beloved “ALMA MATER” San Leon National High School will celebrate the golden founding anniversary first established in 1962 but it seems that nobody cares and no one from the ALUMNI even bother to take the lead. MY FELLOW ALUMNI have we forgotten our ALMA MATER, have we abandon the institutions that molded us, the institution that taught us to acknowledge simplicity OF LIFE, the institutions that allow us to share our inner feelings and love. For God’s sake, this is the moment that we can’t afford to neglect. My Fellow Alumni, hayaan ninyo kunin ko ang pagkakataon ito para ihayag ang aking saloobin at ipadama rin sa inyo ang isang simpleng kwento na sa aking dinadala magpasahanggang ngayon. “ Ako’y isa lamang hamak na mag-aaral noong ako’y sa Mababang Paaralan ng San Leon, ika nga na iba makakuha lang kulawit (75%) na marka ay kailangan ng ipagbunyi. Sa aking pananaw, may mga katulad rin ako pero minsan dumarating sa ating buhay ang isang pagkakataon na maaring magbago sa takbo ng ating pag-iisip, paniniwala sa buhay at nagpapasilakbo sa tunay na nararamdam. At ito nga ang pagkakataon hindi ko makakalimutan sa tanang ng aking buhay “ Ilang buwan bago ako umakyat sa Secondarya habang kami’y nagpapahangin sa beranda ng aking INANG ULING at TATANG BARISTO nasa harapan nila ako at kaya kahit pintig ng mga puso nila naririnig ko at nararamdam ko ang bawat salitang kanilang binibitiwan. At ang kwentuhan nila ay patungkol sa kung paano nagsimula ang SLHS. That evening was a solemn moments, the sense of their face is so vivid, the conversations was too pure, a life changing sight and an opportunity to hear the true wisdom of life coming from INANG and TATANG. It was unforgettable evening the very first time that I saw the teary eyes and heard the shuddering voice of my TATANG and INANG, they’re talking about the “ SCHOOL “. The institutions that he dearly loved and valued more than his life, in the beginning I can’t figure it out then he started to talk about of the SCHOOL. Then, I found out later on that MY TATANG is the forefather of the school it was stunning moment and I started to breathed harder and my heart pounding swiftly. The scene starting to get difficult when he began to talk about caring the children of poor farmers living in barangay San Leon being deprived and have access to basic education. Sabi ni TATANG naawa siya sa mga anak ng mga kapwa niya magsasaka ng naglalakad ng walong kilometer sa halos araw araw para lang mapasok at makapag –aral, mga anak ng mga magsasaka na walang kakayahan bigyan ng pamasahe at baon ang kanila kanilang mga anak ng sa gayon ay makakuha ng sapat sa edukasyon at mapaganda ang kanilang mga buhay. Kaya naisipan niyang hingin ang tulong ng gobyerno upang makapagpatayo ng eskwelahan sa San Leon. It was touching moment that made me prouder to myself being one of his grandson then I move closer to him right beside to hear every single word of his story. According to TATANG many of his barangay mates questioned the possibility of establishing HIGH SCHOOL in BARANGAY SAN LEON and some are in doubts on his ability to guide and with some comments of uncertainties and skepticisms on the my grandfather dream. But these critics was on no occasion became hindrance in pursuing his dream to help the children of poor barriomates uplift their life and get good education and be successful someday for them not to suffer and experience the difficulties of working and plowing the rice fields the whole day under the heat of the sun. Napakahirap at sa tingin ng iba ito’y imposible, itoy mahirap gawin at ito’y pangarap na lamang para iba, pero ang tatang ko hindi lang niya pinangarap ang kapakanan ng mga anak niya kundi kapakanan ng mga mahihirap na anak ng magsasaka upang di nila maranasan ang hirap ng buhay sa bukid, hindi nila maranasang humawak ng kumpay, matulog sa dayame sa gitna ng bukid tuwing sa gabi para magpapatubig, magbilad sa ilalim ng init ng araw buong maghapon at kumain ng mga talbos, saluyot, o kaya kamote araw araw at manghuli ng isda para lang may maisubo. TATANG was so eager, excited and enthusiastic in building the institution and that he usually woke up at 4:00 AM to visit the rice field for a while without taking a sip of hot coffee the persuade some of his closes friend to accompany him in convincing and explaining to the parents about his dream, his vision and he talk about the future of the new generation then, it’s about 5-6 kilometer walk barefoot going to either the other barangay such as Barangay Resurreccion, Sta. Rosa , Distrito, La Paz, Esmeralda and Rajal-Angayan without anything in their hand just an empty stomach and only carry a handful of wisdom of giving properly education to the needy people like them. Nagsimula sa pangarap na ang opinion ng iba ay isang panaginip na lang pero lahat sila nag kamali, maraming hirap at pasakit silang naranasan upang maitaguyod ang SAN LEON BARANGAY HIGH SCHOOL. Dahil dito umusbong ang batang batang eskwelahan at unti unti nagkaron ng katuparan ang mga pangarap ng mga magulang at ng mga anak. SAN LEON HIGH SCHOOL is the legacy of our beloved TATANG and INANG, the realization of their dream and not for their persona sake but for everyone of us who graduated in the institution. Then I started to feel the pain of our TATANG, he is the pioneer of the school, our mentor, the man who helps us all my fellow alumni in the getting of our dream and are we no longer the sons and daughters of farmer and we are now somehow and somewhat successful in our chosen fields. HE is the old man who we owed a lot, our family, our friend, our relative and our loved one BUT we never ever thank him for the things he have done for us, we neglected him, we abandoned him despite the difficulties he endured for the sake of establishing the school, kung anu tayo ngayon isa siya at ang SAN LEON HIGH SCHOOL ang naging kasangkapan para marating natin kung anu man meron tayo ngayon. From then on, I promised to myself that I will pursue study hard so in my own simple way give back the gratitude to my TATANG and INANG and the SCHOOL as well and the vow turn into realization due to GOD's grace I toppled and bested all the student of class 94 of SLNHS from being nobody to somebody, most of my classmates, schoolmates and faculties are shocked how can an average student during elementary like me outwitted the other student, I told them it’s about commitment to myself and to our TATANG. So in my graduation, I invited oir TATANG, along side with my parents and sit beside me and share to momentus events, I saw the happiness in the eyes of our TATANG finally he was vindicate and recognition in my simple for his effort and it was small way on my personal side to give him back and thank him that I am among them of thousands who graduated in SAN LEON that all of his sacrifices and difficulties was not in vain. I worked for it because I know that it will be the last moment of our TATANG to climb the stage and take the podium, take the throne, take the glimpse of the graduates and have it in his minds that he is a fulfilled my man all that I wanted is to let my TATANGS and my relative to feel the triumphant and its no longer my personal achievement what matters to me then is give credit to the MAN who sacrifices alot but we failed to recognized his effort and our forefather the founder of our ALMA MATER that we ignored for the long period of time. Then I let TATANG savor the fruit of his labor and the realization of his dream minus INANG she's already at peace during that time. Namatay ang TATANG pero ni minsan hindi siya humingi ng pagkakataon sa atin lahat ng alumni upang bigyan halaga ang kanyang contributions, ni minsan hindi namin ipinagmalaki o ipinagyabang ang ginawa niya dahil kami y naniwala na itoy para sa mga magulang natin at tayo na nagsitapus. Pero sa pagkakataon ito, kumakatok ako sa inyong mga puso fellow alumni, hindi ba minsan naging parte ng ating buhay ang SAN LEON BARANGAY HIGH SCHOOL. Remember those days that everyone of us experience walking in going to school, singing happy songs with our friends, maalala mo ba during the times na kapag wala ang mga titser lumalabas tayo upang mamitas ng prutas, maligo sa karayan, maghuli ng isda, kumuha ng tulya, pumunta sa bukid ng may bukid para kumuha ng mais, tubo at kamote. nagkukuwentuhan patungkol sa buhay pag ibig saksi ang mga puno ng mangga sa iyong kabiguan, pag iyak, pagtangis, kasiyahan at pagbubunyi. Remember FELLOW ALUMNI dito ka natuto umibig, your first love, your first kiss, your first dance , your first break up and during high school days you found your true and bestfriend. How about the opportunity of attending the JS Prom, Induction Program and Christmas Party I believed we all experienced it di ba masaya yung ROTC days. Di ba masaya rin yung time na yun mga kaibgan mo sabay kayo nagkukwentuhan mababaw man o malalaliman usapin ang mahalaga me handa makinig sa yo. Nakalimutan mo na rin ba sila gaya ng paglimot sa SLNHS. Life was so simple then, di ba LEONISTA sana hindi mo nakakalimutan ang mga pangyayari na ito sa iyong buhay. Masakit lang isipin na sa kabila ng mga magaganda nangyari at alaala na ipinadama at ipinaranas sa yo ng San Leon High School mukhang nawala na iyo ang lahat ng ito. Hindi na ba mahalaga sa iyo na maging parte ng iyong buhay ang eskwelahan ito. Maybe your have the whole thing in the world, the fame, fortune and friend, Living like queen and king and tasted the good things in life your are now dwelling in modern and well indulge life but before your have it anu ba buhay meron ka di ba katulad ka rin namin namuhay dati ng simple. NAG-ARAL AT NAGTAPUS sa isang simpleng paaralang puno ng pag-asa at walang kapantay na salaping alaala di ba ganun ang buhay natin bago tayo maging ganito. PERO KAIBIGAN NI MINSAN BA SUMAGI RIN SA ISIPAN MO KUNG ANO NA ANG KALAGAYAN NG PAARALAN SIMULAN MO, NA MINAHAL MO, NA BINALIK BALIK MO INAAALALA ANG MGA MAGAGANDANG PANGYAYARI PERO SA KABILA NG IYONG KATAGUMPAYAN KAHIT KONTI PABOR MAY NAIBALIK BA TAYO SA KANYA. Fellow alumni, I never abandon nor deserted our ALMA MATER including my family because we owed a lot to this institutions, you may be successful now but you have forgotten than one time in your life SAN LEON HIGH SCHOOL was part of it. Hi kumusta ka na? I saw some of your pictures with your wife and kids on fb, ginagamit ko minsan account ng kuya ko para makiusisa. Eto ganito pa rin right now nag aasikaso sa school ng anak ko for next year kasi start na sya ng kindergarten and busy sa mga continuing ed para ma mamaintain ang credentials sa trabaho. I'm not used to studying at this stage in my life anymore, pero necessary so walang magagawa. Ikaw kumusta ka na? Pareho lang talagatayong busy just in different ways.How are the kids? I'm probably better off not opening an account on fb, sya pang pagkakaabalahan ko. Naku marami talagang female friends si curt sa fb, kahit na noong nakilala ko yan marami nang friends na babae. If i let that bother me maloloka lang ako. Basta ba di nya constant na contact or kung iba na ang agenda then ibang story na yan. If i let my insecurities get the best of me ako rin ang talo di ba? Saka isa rin yan accept din ng accept. Ininvite mo ba siyang maging friend mo sa fb? Kasi ang dami niyang friends na di naman nya kilala, i look at his account too every once in a while. It brings back the old and good memories of pain, of sufferings, of happiness and of good fellow classmates. I belong to the proud “CLASS 94”. San Leon National High School is so dear to me and my family because it reflects the memory of our Grand Father the late Evaristo Estrada should I say one of the Founder our beloved ALMA MATER and to all our forebears (TATANGS AND INANGS). San Leon National High School is cradle of decent and virtuous education and it was established in 1962 for one good simple reason and that is to give opportunity the son’s and daughter’s of farmers living in Barangay San Leon a worthy education for them not to deprive good future and the realization of their dreams. My uncle, Jaime S. Estrada belong to the first student of San Leon National High School and he’s now a successful Human Resource Development Practitioner and now working as Vice President in a private corporation. Aside from my Uncle Jaime, Uncle Edgar Estrada is a registered Civil Engineer and working at Pasig City Hall another proud product of SLNHS so few to mention and they never turned back to our beloved despite of good fortune and fame. They always coming back to see the “SCHOOL” and give assistance in own simple way. Hindi lang sila ang mga dating anak ng mga magsasaka na nagtapus sa atin paaralan, na gumanda ang buhay at hanggang sa mag pahanggang ngayon hindi nakakalimot. It was really nice talking to you again, it brought back old memories and old feelings that probably never went away. I just find it strange that after 27 years we talk like we just saw each other last month. Well, life does not always work out the way you plan or would like it to.Na enjoy ko lang talaga those two days even though that's about as far as its gonna go but that's okay. sorry matagal na akong hindi nag post, i've just been so busy working and doesn't really have much time to even sit in front of the computer. I hope you're well, along with your wife and kids. Actually nag email ako ng pictures sa'yo ng mga bata but it did not go through, can you post ur email add again pls? I'm doing okay, surviving this economy so far, hoping it bounces back soon. Wow! I didn't expect anything like this. Message board for San Leon National High School... Cool! Anyway, Im only seeing limited number people who currently posting in here (maybe majority of people haven't discovered it yet!lol). I would like to greet my teachers when I was in High School especially (Mrs Acuar, Mrs Fernandez, Mrs Parinas, Mrs Llobera, Mrs Taja (if she's still there), Mrs Bajesta, and Mrs Nelie Ramos). Sorry if I couldn't mention the name of the Principal, coz Im pretty sure Mr Taja has been replaced as the school principal way back then. I would also like to upbring my hello to my former classmates and friends when I was still studying in San Leon National High School. How I wish I could turn back time. Sorry it took a while for me to respond again. I could not call you kze yung araw na binigay mo wednesday night dito and my husband's home. Thursday night dito siya wala bale friday morning diyan hindi ka rin pwede. Okay lang naman ako, kze hindi naman ako full time sa main job ko di ba i've always worked part time so if you calculate it parang hindi pa rin full time kahit pagsamahin mo dalawang trabaho kze home visits lang ang ginagawa ko hereand there or i pick up extra shifts at the hospital if im needed. The kids are good, my one year old is walking now but she's very petite para siyang walking 6 months old ang cute, caden is 4 now and still the best kid ever coz he's such a well behaved little boy.
