2011 Fiesta Celebration... Once again, we the SCC Pangasinan Association of Northern California celebrate its 38th Annual Anniversary Town Fiesta. We cordially invite every San Carleneans all over California to join us to our evening gala event. To all my friends, I just want to share my happiness with all of you for this small blessing that I did for my kabaleyans Plastic bags, pad papers, notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers may not mean much in the United States where many of us live in abundance and prosperity. But to these schoolchildren in the picture, they are tools of learning that are quite expensive and unaffordable. Sometime this month, I made a decision to reach out to the small community in San Carlos City, Pangasinan where I was born. Maganda at masaya yong reunion. Yong popularity contest para sa Ms. Alumni, naintindihan namin. Kaya ang batch namin talagang nagbigay. Four of us graduated from St. Charles and my pamangkins are there too. Kailangan natin tumulong para sa future generation. Ang OLD SCA building at simbahan ang tanging natitirang historical places sa atin bayan. Kung may nagagawa tayo para epreserve yon, tumulong tayo. Kahit yong simbahan kailangan ng tulong natin lahat. Maraming anay. Kailan tayo gagalaw pag huli na ang lahat. At least si Father Quinto is making all the effort to preserved and improve our old school. Umakyat ako sa old building dahil niyaya nya ako na tignan ang ginagawa nila. Pag dating ko sa taas, nagflash ang maga alaala ng panahon. Yong habulan sa hallway at kung paano namin nililinis ang mga silid aralan. Happy memories we shared with our classmates. Kung paano kami sabunin ng mga teachers. Saan man tayo ngayon,ang St Charles ay nagkaroon ng malaking bahagi ng ating buhay. I went back to say " Thank You and give my full support". You are absolutely right. I heard that the reunion was a success. Hearing the good stories bring noltagic moments of high school life. Many didn't make it to join because of some reasons, whatever it is, at least some of this people sent their support. My brother went and thru him, my other brother and i tried to connect to our alma mater. People who complain and criticize, walang magawa sa buhay kundi mag sour-grapes na lang dahil still has so much personal issues and insecurities, i guess? I heard, that your batch-83 are the STARS. I heard that you share your blessings as well. That's very nice and unselfish thing to do. I hope that God will continue to shower you with more blessing because you know how to share. I came to visit the site hoping that somebody will tell more stories. But, i was disappointed to read such negativities. I am glad that you posted one, although not a story about the reunion, but something more positive.

Well, there were some things that could have been done better but I would not dwell on them. On a lighter note, the school has changed in some ways but the people were and are the same - warm, caring and were just happy to see us enjoy the company of old friends. The principal, a cancer survivor, was a picture of good health and an example of how courage can beat the odds. Some of my former teachers were still around and I was happy to see them. One even introduced her daughter who would be a teacher at SCA herself. She was a four year old kid when I was at SCA. So the guard is changing, a new generation is taking over, and we should all wish them well for it may be our children or our friends' children that the school will teach next. I could count with my left fingers my classmates who were there - and I was there for only an hour - but I was glad I went just to touch base. So lighten up. Congratulations to the organizers. Let's do it again but could we do it in December next time whether it's next year or five years from hence?

HERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT REUNIONS----- SHOULD YOU ATTEND YOUR CLASS REUNION? YES BY: Julie Seedorf, Something About Nothing Published Monday, July 28, 2008 ============ It has been 40 years since the Wells-Easton Class of 1968 graduated. It doesn’t feel like 40 years. I don’t feel that old. Actually it feels like yesterday. The class of ’68 celebrated the occasion recently on a lake at a cabin that is owned by one of our classmates. If you would have visited our reunion you might have expected a bunch of old, stodgy people attending. However, I did not see any stodgy old people there. Well, maybe we were a little stodgy, as I didn’t see any skinny-dipping in the lake. That might have happened back in the high school days. I wouldn’t own up to that, but it could have been possible with other classmates. Then again I didn’t stay until the last sentence died and the owls and bats came out. Maybe there was some skinny-dipping by the moonlight and I didn’t hear about it. If I did I wouldn’t tell since we all have children to set an example for and we need to keep them believing that we were perfect when we were teenagers and we still are perfect in our unstodgy years. We certainly wouldn’t want to tarnish our image. Julie Seedorf I do know the invitation said to bring swimsuits. In the ’60s the swimsuits would have been bikinis. I suspect everyone decided to pass on that since when I arrived everyone was well-clothed. The fact that no one was in swimsuits was probably because as we have aged and we are secure enough in our own skin we do not have to show off our fabulous figures. We did have a conversation about the dress code of today’s teenagers and the pants that are falling off the hips. We were sentenced to dresses, skirts and, for guys, nice pants when we attended our high school. Maybe we should adopt the new baggy pants dress now since we were denied such cool clothing when we were teenagers. The good thing about baggy pants at our age would be that you wouldn’t notice the rolls that have developed above the waistline. They would just bag with the pants! Our class reunion was a gathering of a small part of our class. We had a couple of people attending who we had not seen for 40 years. The amazing fact is that we recognized each other. That must mean that we have not changed in looks in 40 years. We still look as young as we did back then. That was so good for all of our egos. Our outsides matched our insides. For one night we transported ourselves backward to remember each other and the times we shared. Many members of our class chose not to attend our reunion. We were sorry they were not there. They were missed. I am sure there were many reasons for not attending the reunion. Everyone leads a busy life. Some were busy with family and work responsibilities. I suspect some did not attend because of past hurts from high school or past hurts from former reunions. High school kids can be cruel. High school kids, our class included, had their cliques. High school was a time when we were probably all insecure. We were trying to find out who we were. We wanted to be accepted. We wanted to measure up. Because of all those feelings we didn’t always treat each other well. Maybe we were shy. OK, I wasn’t shy, but I know people who were. These people were labeled stuck up because of their shyness. We had our friends, and we had our enemies. In spite of all of this, we share a history. I must admit I thought of skipping our reunion. I had a grueling headache in the morning, and it seemed too much effort to get myself together. I didn’t know who was going to be there. Were my old best friends going to attend? Who would I talk to if they weren’t there? The old insecurities started to pop up in my mind, add a spouse to that equation that doesn’t even attend his class reunions, and it would have been easy to stay home. I looked at my reunion letter with the pictures of all the classmates whose lives ended too early including the picture of one of my best girlfriends, Karen. How I wished I had had the chance to see all of them one last time. I made my decision. My spouse raced me to the car because he was so excited that I had decided to attend my reunion. It was amazing. It seemed the conversation picked up where it left off 40 years ago, but there was a difference. There were no more cliques. No one felt they had to prove anything to anyone. We were a group of people that shared a history. We had traveled through life surviving weddings, kids, funerals, divorces and illness. We had traveled through life with joy and laughter and experiences that changed us. We were again the Wells-Easton class of 1968. We were older and wiser but of course we still looked as young as we did in 1968. If you were part of our class and you didn’t attend our reunion, we hope you reconsider next time. We all made a pact to meet at the same place five years from now. We hope you join us. If we weren’t friends 40 years ago, we may be friends now. We all have changed. And we did miss you. Remember this? “Those Conquer Who Believe They Can.” — Motto of the class of 1968. I dedicate this column to Karen, Joe, Bruce, Gary, Brad, Brian, Dave, Steve, Guy and Rocky. Marlon, you don't need to post the entire minutes of meetings here. As yo can see, it is so hard to read. Just summarize them, Thanks. Any activities like lectures and seminars? I remember SCA used to do that. There was leadership training seminar for all promising students of SCA before. That changed my life as a teenager, it helped keep me away from bad people and bad things. Maybe the committee can consider something like it?

The minutes of the previous meeting was distributed for comments and eventual finality. It was reiterated that team A composed of batches 73, 79, 85,91,97,03 will use pink colored shirt. Team B comprising of batches 74,80,86,92,98,04 will use yellow gold shirt. Batches 75,81,87,93,99,05 will use purple colored shirts and will act as team C. Team D is composed of batches 76,82,88,94,2000,06 and will use red shirt. Batches 76,83,89,95,01,07 will use powder blue shirt and will be formed as Team E. Team F will use Apple Green shirt and will compose the batches 77,84,90,96,02,08. All teams will use one design which will be provided by the organizer based on the out come of the grand homecoming logo design contest to be introduced to the SCA students. T-shirts should be ordered by each class as decided by the majority of the core group. No other comment was pointed and the core group moves for the adoption of the minutes of the previous meeting. Committee Updates The initial fund raising which is the holding of two cock derby in Dumpay Basista on March 9, 2008 was formally announced. Proceeds of that fund raising will be turned over to the Treasurer by the committee on fund raising headed by Chris Castro and Eric Tan. Registration focal point was also established in SCA to be manned by Miss Marites Austria. Alumni can register themselves by using landlines and mobile phones. The focal point officer can be reached in Phone numbers 075-532-5821, 075-532-3041. Alumni can send there interest to join and attend by sending SMS to 09208117741. It was planned that initial invitation will be delivered in the first week of March by SCA students. Registration fee is now fixed at 200.00PHP. This payment includes the serving of snacks and the holding of dinner during the grand Alumni Night. Committee on Fund Raising added Socorro Mandapat ’87 as one of its member. The upcoming fund raising activities are as follows: Battle of the Bands, tentatively scheduled on May 9, 2008,Bingo Socials on Oct 31, 2008, Concert sponsorship on November and selling of raffle tickets. It was also decided that souvenir programs will be made however; it will be a joint effort of the school and the alumni association wherein proceeds will be divided equally. Don Podring Orchestra has been commissioned to assist during the Grand Alumni night. It was already booked and confirmed by the committee on Lights and Sounds Committee on Advertisement informed the body that massive info drive about the holding of Grand Alumni homecoming will be done in October. Hanging of banners and other advertisement propaganda will be done on this period. Rey Tamondong was added as one of its member. Committee on foods and refreshments informed the group that catering services will be availed during the Alumni Night. Two (2) snacks will be served on Friday and only one (1) snack will be served on Saturday. It was also decided that meal tickets will be provided during the Grand Alumni Night. The Committee on program made it a point that the first activity on Feb 20 will be a Mass then followed by fun games. Friday will be dubbed as “family Day”. Saturday, Feb 21 will be the alumni motorcade. In the evening, Grand Alumni night will be done. As a rule, alumni night is exclusive only for SCA graduates. If spouse will be brought, alumnus should register their spouses. Sunday Dress is required during the alumni night. Faculty members, former and present are invited and free from registration fee. The committee on motorcade and security informed the body that the route of motorcade should be up to the nearby towns. The motorcade will be assisted by DBC. Motorcycle riding policemen will escort the motorcade. Attire during the motorcade should be the alumni Shirt. Games and amusement committee informed that group that basket ball and volleyball games will be played aside from other parlor games. Documentation committee will collect old and recent pictures of every batch and will form part of the photo exhibit starting feb 1, 2009 at SCA Museum. Slide show presentation will also be available during alumni night. The theme “Ompawil tayo ed SCA, Pankakasakey tan Maong ya ulupan na charlesian” has been adopted and finalized. Projects of the Association will be tackled after the preparation of the Grand Homecoming. Meeting is adjourned at about 5:15 PM and next meeting is scheduled on March 16, 2008.

to the coordinator: hello there!i read your queries for the SCAAA president. i would like to inform you that no specific project yet is discussed for the reason that the SCAAAI has just been conceptualized last Dec 29, 2007 with election of its officers and class representatives..for now, we are concentrating on the preparation of the Grand Alumni Homecoming. once everything is already in order, programs/projects of the alumni association will be presented to the body. I have question in regards to this upcoming reunion. I was elected to coordinate the overseas member of our batch. The members of our batch are asking me. What are we soliciting for? What are the project of this Alumni Organization? Is it different project each batch or We are doing this as one big family? Some of our batch members suggested to sponsor a scholarship for poor but deserving students.but there some issue in regards to how it will materialized and the selecting process.
