Information about our backpack projects
Background:
In the barrios and even in the town, many parents can not afford to buy the basic necessities that their children need in school. They can hardly afford to buy pencil, pad paper, crayons and other school supplies. Needless to say, many children uses plastic bags or bags made from used flour sack to carry their books and stuff. We can help by sharing a little percentage of our blessings to these children.

Our goal:  To deliver a set of backpacks to elementary school pupils starting from kinder and up.. Meeting this goal is not that easy but it can be done.  It needs some preparation and legwork by our staff based in Pangasinan.

Steps: These are the steps that we take once we received a request from a “requestor” to start a project for their former elementary school.

1.  We will send our staff accompanied by a relative of the requestor to meet the principal and take pictures of the school. At this time, nothing specific will be discussed except telling the principal that we are starting a backpack project to benefit pupils from kinder and up.

2.  We will create a web page for solicitation purposes. Then at a later date, we will post the pictures of the school and pupils.

3.  Collection of donations will be the responsibility of the requestor or donors can send it directly to us and we will marked it paid at the donors web page.  If payment is to be made at time of delivery the requestor or representative will hand the payment during the day of delivery in dollars.

4.  On delivery day, we will ask the principal to assemble all the recipients in a room or assembly hall. Only the recipients and school staff will be present. No other pupils will be present. We will take pictures as the backpack is being handed. The pictures will be posted in a few days and will serve as proof of delivery.

Note: Our staff will always be present during the delivery and will only leave until the last bag is handed to the recipients. This is necessary in order to meet our goal and also to protect Pangasinan.org‘s reputation.
