The Pangasinan Society of Calgary (PASOC), a Filipino social club founded in 1988 by Leopoldo Mendoza to promote Pangasinan culture and heritage, officially turned over to Calgary Handibus Association its donation of a HandiBus thru Dave Gowen, CHA Fund Development Administrator during the society’s annual summer picnic held last Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Bowness Park. Witnessed by nearly three hundred of its over 800 members, this organization led by its President Fermin Mejia is grateful to the Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission for allowing the society to use its casino funds for the acquisition of the Handibus. PASOC leads the way among the many Filipino organizations in the city. This worthy project unanimously approved and endorsed by PASOC Executive Board will benefit not only the Filipinos in particular but the whole population in general who may need the services of the Calgary HandiBus Association. PASOC Past President Narlo Serquiña introduced this fundraising program to the organization during his term as the club president in 1995 – 1996. Meanwhile, PASOC Casino Committee Chairman Clem Tigley thanked the many volunteers for their tireless efforts and dedication in the casino fundraising events. |
